DR. S. SELVANATHAN has over 25 years of experience in the area of Human Resource and Industrial Relations Management having risen from the ranks to become the General Manager (Human Resource Department) of a leading multinational organization.

 

In the course of this rich experience he was a panel member of the Industrial Court for 3 terms and has heard disputes that were brought before it for arbitration. His experience includes handling Industrial as well as Labour Court cases.

 

Due to his vast experience, he is frequently called – up as a consultant and his clients include numerous multinational organizations involved in electronics, manufacturing, construction, hotel, security, human resource and service industry. He is also a regional trainer in areas relating to the subject.

 

Some of the successful projects that he has executed are development and facilitation of Innovation and Strategic Workshops, full review of Human Resource Management, developing general HR Good Practices, Designing and Writing Policies and Procedures, Employee Handbooks and also implementing and execution of VSS and Retrenchment exercises.

 

He is also involved in Industrial Safety and was the Chairman of the Occupational Safety & Health Sub-Committee of the Malacca branch of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) for about 10 years besides being the Chairman of the house committee on Occupational Safety & Health. He has also completed the Safety and Health Officer Certification and the ‘Train -The-Trainer’ programmes by NIOSH.

 

Dr. S. Selvanathan who was awarded a PhD in Human Resource Management from the University of New Castle USA, holds a degree in law LL.B (Hons) UK and a Diploma in HRM (UK), is also a Professional Will Writer.

SUMMARY

Misconduct is a generally applicable word in any organization. However, many still do not know the meaning and application of it. Further, with the advent of ‘Work From Home’, ‘Work From Anywhere’ etc., the effective management of misconducts becomes more crucial. There are many cases in the Industrial Court on dismissals due to misconducts. This course entails the participants to learn and apply the laws governing misconducts. Both employees and employers will benefit greatly in knowing their respective roles in minimizing such misconducts and concentrate their energies in improving productivity.
Case laws will be extensively used as this is where the application of the laws come in. Risks to both employers and employees will be minimized and cost saved as there will be lesser or no litigations in court.
