Ts. Khairuddin Hairan, with 30 over years of experience in HSE field, holding BSc in Mechanical Engineering graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York; Cert. in Occupational Safety & Health from NEBOSH (Nat’l Examination Board of Occupational Safety & Health) U.K. and Dip. in Occupational Safety & Health from the University of New Castle, Australia.

 

He then joined Texas Instruments Malaysia in 1991 as a Site Safety, Environmental and Industrial Hygiene Engineer and was responsible in establishing many S&H related programs such as Emergency Response Plan, Fire Fighting, Chemical Safety, Confined Space Safety, Lock Out/Tag Out; Hearing Conservation; Accident, Reporting, Recording & Investigation; Eye & Head Protection; Electrical Safety, Permit To Work System, Contractor Safety Program, Lead Safety Program and many others.

 

In 1995, he joined ABB (formerly known as Asea Brown Boveri) Power Generation at Kuala Langat Power Station as a Site Safety, Health and Environmental Engineer in charged of the 720 MW (Megawatt) Power Station’s Safety, Health and Environmental program and activities, till Jan’03 where he was promoted and transferred to JanaManjung Power Station, a 2100 MW Coal Fired Power Station in Sri Manjung, Perak as the Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Manager under Alstom Power Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd., Operations & Maintenance Division till Mar’04.

 

While in ABB Power Generation, he further his studies by completing NEBOSH, U.K.’s Safety & Health Certificate in 1995, and later in 1997, obtained Diploma in Safety & Health Management from University of New Castle, Australia.

 

He was a registered Safety & Health Officer with DOSH bearing a registration No. 012 and has lead his organisation, previously known as Alstom Power at Kuala Langat Power Station to win the MSOSH’s (Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety & Health) highest Grand Award in 1997, 1999 & 2001. He has also lead his organisation to achieve OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 Certifications from SIRIM in 2001.

 

In Apr’04, he was appointed Regional EHS Manager for Alstom Power Asia Pacific, a French company specialising in constructing, commissioning, operating and maintaining Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine Power Stations. His country of coverage includes Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Middle East.

 

In 2007, he joined ICI Paints (M) Sdn Bhd, a UK based chemical plant in Nilai as Security, Safety, Health & Environmental (SSHE) Manager in charged of the plant’s SSHE activities till Feb’08.

 

He has provided consultancy and training to MASkargo KLIA, MASkargo Penang, MASkargo Kuching, MASkargo Kota Kinabalu; Johnson Controls Automotive Holdings, Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd, Solar Alert Sdn Bhd, MTR Services Sdn Bhd, Emeryoleo Chemicals (M) Sdn Bhd, Innovative Oilfield Services Sdn Bhd, Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd and Tradewinds Plantation Bhd Palm Oil Mill, Johnson Control Hitachi Air Conditioning Sdn Bhd, IJM Construction Bhd Package MRT Line V203 & S5, AmBank, TRX City District Management Sdn Bhd, Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) and Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) leading towards successful achievement of ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 certifications.

COURSE SUMMARY
This course will enable the organisation to know the background, chemistry and hazards of fire, the Legal Requirements governing the aspects of Fire Safety in an organisation and how to establish Emergency Response Plan, Emergency Response Team and prepare Emergency Response Equipment.
