OVERVIEW

The Employment Act 1955 (EA) covers the minimum terms and conditions of employment for employees.

It is a basic human rights law for ALL employer-employee relationships and must be known by all employers

Employers are required to follow this legislation in drawing up the terms and conditions of employment at all levels of employees with certain exceptions.

It also provides some obligations and limitations from both employer and employee particularly in terms of work hours and OT and the administration of benefits.
