OVERVIEW

In Construction works , there are many parties involved, variety of materials, the employment of skilled & unskilled labor, the deployment of heavy machinery, the usage of many types of tools & equipment and methodology in carrying out the works.

The client will want the job to be done expeditiously and economically, the consultant will have to abide by the drawings and specifications whilst the contractor will implement the works in accordance with the contract, within the shortest time and lowest cost possible which has a high risk of affecting the quality output.

Thus, question arises as to ensure the achievement of the targeted quality, to meet the client’s expectation of a functional output with high quality, identifying on who are responsible to ensure that quality works are achieved, identifying on who are responsible to organize a credible supervision team , identifying on who are the people in the supervision team, ensuring on the effectiveness of the supervision team, identifying the job scope of the supervision team, remedial actions for defects and failures, identifying the powers of the supervision team and establishing the qualifications of the supervision team.

Thus , it is imperative that to ensure quality output of construction works as per the contract , adequate and effective site supervision is necessary. This will ensure the project can be implemented successfully.
