JEREMY M JOSEPH

 

Jeremy M. Joseph is the Principal Partner at Joseph and Partners, a reputable Malaysian law firm specialising in maritime and commercial cases. He has been recognized by Legal 500 and Chambers Asia for 15 years as a Band 1 shipping lawyer.

 

Jeremy received a British Chevening Scholarship in 1996 and completed his Master of Law from the University of Southampton in 1997. He also holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK.

 

Jeremy started his career as a marine insurance broker and worked as an Associate in Holman Fenwick & Willan Singapore and later in the Malaysian-associated office of Joseph Tan Jude Benny LLP before founding Joseph and Partners in 2010. His firm has won several awards, including “Shipping Law Firm of the Year” from 2014-2016. In 2018, his firm handled many landmark maritime and insurance cases, including the high-profile arrest and sale of the superyacht Equanimity. He has also contributed to legal publications and presented at conferences worldwide.

MATTHEW JEROME VAN HUIZEN

 

Matthew Jerome Van Huizen is a Senior Associate at Joseph & Partners (Johor Bahru Branch office).

 

His practice focuses on shipping litigation including arrest and sale of vessels, bills of lading and charterparty disputes. He also advises on general maritime corporate matters including the drafting of Ship-Management, Sea-men Employment, and Joint-Venture contracts.

 

He has worked for a variety of clients, including shipowners, ship operators, charterers, P&I Clubs, shipyards, insurers, brokers, trading companies, freight forwarders, oil companies, and banks.
